River Valley Church Summer Camp FAQ’S

  • Our priority is to create a safe, structured, and Spirit-filled environment where kids can have fun, build friendships, and encounter God.

    • Campers remain with their assigned group and leader during core camp programming. For safety, children are not permitted to leave their group or designated areas without staff approval.

    • During aftercare (12–3pm), groups come together in a shared outdoor environment where kids participate in games, stations, and activities under the supervision of our team.

    • We expect all campers to participate respectfully. If a child displays ongoing unsafe or disruptive behaviour, our team will step in. This may include contacting parents and, if necessary, asking a child to sit out or be picked up. These decisions are made carefully, with the wellbeing of all campers in mind.

    • All of our leaders are screened and trained to work with children, and we maintain clear supervision and leadership across every environment and activity.

  • If your child requires medication during camp, please include full details during registration.

    • Medication must be given directly to a team member at check-in

    • All items must be clearly labelled with your child’s name, dosage, and instructions

    • Medication will be stored safely and administered as directed

    • All unused medication (EpiPen, puffer, etc.) will be returned on your child’s last day at camp.

If anything changes throughout the week, please communicate directly with our team.

  • Full payment is required at the time of registration

    • More than 4 weeks’ notice: 100% refund

    • 2–4 weeks’ notice: 50% refund

    • Less than 2 weeks: no refunds

Registrations can be transferred to another child with sufficient notice.

If camp needs to be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, families will be notified and refunds will be issued accordingly.

  • Our camp team is made up of trusted leaders, young adults, and youth who love God and love the next generation.

    Every team member:

    • Completes a screening process (including Criminal Record Checks for adults)

    • Is trained in safety, supervision, and working with children

    • Is committed to creating a fun, intentional, and faith-filled environment

  • Lost items will be available for pickup throughout the week at check-in.

Any unclaimed items will be held for a short period after camp and then donated.

  • We provide two light, peanut-free snacks each day - a balance of something fresh and something fun

    For all campers, please send:

    • A packed lunch

    • A refillable water bottle (with their name on it)

Our goal is to keep kids fuelled and ready for the day while being mindful of allergies and dietary needs. If there’s anything specific we should know, please include it in your registration.

  • If you have questions, wish to express concerns, and/or highlight the extra efforts of our dedicated team, please speak with our Children’s Ministry Coordinator, Simone, directly: simone@rivervalleyvan.org
